Is there a chameleon like lizard native to Japan?

Thinking about some Kung Fu Panda fan fiction. Want to make invading Japanese Ninjas the antagonist for the Chinese Kung Fu warriors, but don't know what kind of animal to make them.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I wasn't able to find a chameleon or chameleon like lizard with a distribution in Japan, but what if you made them Japanese Macaques. They're very agile and could make good ninjas.

Had considered macaques, but a little too close to both Master Monkey in KFP and MonkeyFist's ninjas from Kim Possible.

Had wanted cameleons, if possible, because the thing the Kung Fu warriors will have the hardest time dealing with is ninja invisibility.

It's a funnny animal fantasy, I could just handwave Japanese cameleons, but if I can find an actual Japanese animal with cameleon like powers, or disguise skills, or lots of stealth, that would be better.

Even though I could not find a real chameleon in japan ,I managed to find Green Anole which is almost equivalent to it.Hope it would help you.

JAPANESE NAME:Green anole

COMMON NAME:Green anole

They are sometimes called American chameleons, although they are not true chameleons. They can, however, change their color from brown through a bright emerald green.

I voted "No Best Answer."

The first answer has been ruled out by beast.

The second answer uses copied-and-pasted (C&P) information that was taken from one of two possible sources, one perhaps plagiarizing the other:
