Columbus is the capital of Ohio and is named after Christopher Columbus, the Italian explorer who sailed under the Spanish flag. It is a relatively big city, and can be divided into 5 different districts; Downtown, University Area, Northwest Columbus, Northeast Columbus and South Columbus.
There are lots to see at Downtown Columbus, and these attractions are mostly open in the day. You can visit the Ohio Statehouse, COSI – which is a museum for children, the Columbus Museum of Art, the Santa Maria (a replica of Columbus’ ship). You can also see various acts and performances such as the Columbus Sympony Orchestra.
The best time to visit Columbus really depends on what you are looking to do in Columbus. If you are bringing your family, the best time to visit is most probably in the day where most of the attractions and museums are still open. In addition, daylight will also make better photographs especially of outdoor exhibits. Even if you are looking to catch some performances, these usually take place in the day as well.
