Long version: The Zune can only sync with the Zune software (which, btw, is NOT AVAILABLE ON THE MAC). While there are certain unofficial third-party plugins for iTunes to let it sync to other mp3 players, those plugins only work with UMS devices (USB Mass Storage; basically, anything that actually shows up as a drive in Windows Explorer or Finder). Those don't work with the Zune, as not only does it use MTP (Media Transfer Protocol, which is not supported by any of those plugins) it uses a modified version of that protocol which only works with the Zune software.
However, your iTunes purchased music will import into the Zune software just fine (provided it's in iTunes Plus). In fact:
(this is important!)
When you install the Zune software, it scans not only your Music folder, but also your iTunes library, importing all of those songs (save the non-Plus purchased ones) into your Zune library, complete with ratings.
Note, however, that songs purchased from the Zune Marketplace do not work with iTunes.
Also, note again that the Zune DOES NOT WORK WITH MAC OS. At all.

M$Non DRM music purchased with Itunes can be seen and synced to the Zune using the Zune software.
None...I tried it myself

M$It seems to be not compatible with Windows Media Player...at least without Zune Soft.
so In order to add songs I suggest you to install Zune Software ... http://www.zune.net/en-us/meetzune/software.htm
...ok
let's analyze better..
Zune supports AAC format...the default file format that is used by iTunes whenever you rip a CD..
The principal problem is that you can't play DRM protected songs purchased from iTunes Store... without strip the protection...
then... Zune Software could scan the pc for media files and also add music from Itune's folder... so this incompatibility in this sense isn't heavy...

M$If you have an iPod and are used to using iTunes, the Zune software can be a little restrictive. These limitations will hopefully be fixed in a update. I was unable to create a playlist from podcasts. Podcasts must be manually played. Also, the copy-protected music/video you purchased from iTunes will not play on the Zune.
I really like the Zune's ability to sync to your computer using your wireless network. The screen is nice and big. The previous versions of the Zune (round control) are upgradeable to the new software giving you all/most of the functionality of the new versions ("squircle" control).
If you are used to the iPod's interface using the scroll wheel, the Zune may drive you mad. You will instinctively spin your thumb around the circular control, but nothing happens. This is my theory why the newer version has the squircle (rounded square) interface.
I would recommend downloading the software and see if it does what you need.
