Is the world wide loss in the number of bees a danger to humanity?

Many people are pointing to asteroid collisions or other phenomenal disasters as being the end of the world, but could the danger of a reduction or elimination in the pollinators in the world be our biggest dangers? Around the world the number of bees and wasps has gone down - is this world wide loss a danger to humanity?

"Honey Bees are the most economically valuable pollinators of agricultural crops worldwide...the monetary value honey bees as commercial pollinators in the U.S. is estimated at about $15-20 billion annually."

The link is a thorough and update description and analysis of Colony Collapse Disorder. This worldwide phenomena has many scientists and governments formally addressing this as a serious economic and agricultural issue. I feel like if the government has formally addressed the problem then it has probably done more than enough damage.

Food is a necessity, and thus starvation will cause people to risk their lives to obtain it. I think that worldwide crop failure and starvation will lead to war, and that humanity will destroy itself.

Of course it is, this will cause a food shortage when the plants are not pollinated. Unless science comes up with a way to do it this will be a major problem. The loss of any creature in the life cycle is a danger as one species affects what another spiecies wil survive. What about the animals that eat the plants that bees pollinate that we as humans don't eat. What species will follow that loss and then the species that live off of that one. Humans need to realize their time in the extinction cycle is coming. And the worst part is we did it to ourselves.
Our lives begin to end the moment we are silent about the things that matter.

If you consider that if there were no more Honey Bees left a Big Mac would just consist of the bun, and a bun without any sesame seeds at that, then it's pretty serious.

This is one possibility, however there is another reason why we should be worried about the dwindling population of bees. With our climate continuing to warm, more and more species are beginning to die off, which can be an early indicator that we are harming our planet in some way, shape, or form.
