Is the word "midget" a derogatory term?

Midget, from it's early, original meaning, was not a derogatory term as such. However, it's use in the modern day and age has led many to use it as (and treat it as) a derogatory term. So really, it depends on the context that you're using it in. Some people use it as an offensive word, whilst others simply use it as an adjective like any other. Really, it depends on how you look at it.
