Is the San Diego Zoo home to the panda cubs?
Where can I find information on the only panda bear cub born in captivity? Is the San Diego Zoo the only place where I can see the panda bear born in captivity?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello @un42!
You will find information of the panda bear cub born in captivity at San Diego Zoo at http://www.sandiegozoo.org/news/panda_news.html.
The panda bear cub as of September 3, 2008 thrives as a 13-month old panda named Zhen Zhen. The zoo keepers are teaching her how to come off exhibit when asked just like the other adult pandas. Little Zhen is a special panda for she has a mind of her own and sometimes tends to be stubborn and won't cooperate at time. Other pandas in the zoo are motivated by a reward like food but keepers found that Zhen prefers tactile experiences like a good scratching session on her rear end.
Zhen Zhen turn one last August 3, 2008 and she a special ice cake decorated with packages filled with treats. Keeper noticed that Zhen has started to focus a bit more on food than nursing.
There are about 140 pandas that are maintained in captive settings with the majority being in China's panda research or reserve centers. There are seven giant pandas that can be found at U.S. zoological facilities. Three at San Diego Zoo, two at Zoo Atlanta and two at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. There are also three that can be found at Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City.
