Is the post office in your area only delivering packages this week?

Ours is!
No letters, no paychecks, no Christmas cards, no gift cards that are mailed to you...I am just curious if this is happening in your area?
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I've never heard of a post office only delivering packages and purposefully delaying other types of mail! I've been receiving all types of mail as expected recently. Is yours a US post office?

I tried searching online to see if this was allowed under certain circumstances. I found the following answer on Yahoo answers:

No. All first class mail gets delivered the day it comes into your local post office. IE: letters, priority, express, first class packages. If there is an enormous amount of mail, they can delay the bulk mail material for up to three days--which consists of things like publishers clearing house mailers and junk mail catalogs.

This would indicate that bulk mail and not regular first class can be delayed.

Here's a link to email a complaint to US postal service:

The above link was from the United States Postal Inspection Service's Website.

"Report problems with mail delivery or service to the U.S. Postal Service"

I seem to be missing a week or so of mail. The usual junk mail did not arrive.

No sites involved, I checked my mail and there seems to be a week or ten days worth missing.

Ours doesn't do that.
We get mail, packages.. everything up until the 24th in which they still deliver everything that day. Skip Christmas cause it's a holiday, then back to delivering everything again.
Why would they just stop all mail in your area? That's odd, I never heard that before.

I thought so too! I am so confused of the reason why, but she said simply ' We are only delivering packages not letters' Just to save them time I am sure!

Well that's definitely not a good reason to do that! It's their job to deliver your mail.

No actually all I am getting is bills and 2 new solicitations for credit cards?! In this economy I can't imagine that most people would take a new form of debt with so little assurance that they will have a job in 6 months.

No. We got a nice big load of junk mail today, along with a couple of cards and a couple of bills.
