Is the Nexus One manufactured by Google?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Google is not a hardware company and stayed out of the mix and played to their strengths by creating the software only. The other added benefit is that in other cases, Google licenses the Android OS to the hardware companies (HTC, Motorola, etc) and can license any version as they wish. This is why we saw Android 2.0 on the Nexus One at launch while the Motrola's Droid (which was new and hot) was still parading Android 1.6 at the same time.

Google is quiet about it since it's published as the Google phone. You can't see it at HTC's site or T-Mobile's site. It's sold exclusively through Google.
This is a great answer, but without a source for the information, I can't pick it, sorry.
