Is the Mahalo code development team sufficiently staffed?

As users do you see things evolving nicely and like what's been presented so far? Have the staffers been responsive for any of you that have contacted them?

If the staffers feel short-handed, I wonder what sort of criteria they look for.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes. I have contacted them (and Jason Calacanis) personally more than 5 times and I have received a fast answer from them. And from the development perspective, Mahalo seems to be bug-free and the site is bringing new features all the time.

I am surprised how flawless answers especially has been. Mahalo is truly a work of art, and knowing Calacanis, he only picks the best people for his team.

I think they are sufficiently staffed but will need to grow as the number of users increase.

I was SHOCKED at how quickly I received responses when I emailed feedback to feedback@mahalo.com. Jason, the founder, wrote me back personally. Also, the two things I suggested were fixed SAME DAY!

Lovin' it.

Probably.
This appears to be a canned system that has been HEAVILY modified and extended. They don't have enough hardware. It is somewhat under featured. It is changing almost every time I log in. They do not have a development system, they are doing their development on the production system.

When you have a new system, putting more people to work on it just makes it worse.

If one person can fix it in a year
Two people will take 7 months
four people will take 6 months
eight people will take 7 months
ten people will take 8 months
twelve people will never finish.

Keep it up guys you are getting there, but the "My Profile" section continues to be largely non functional "Can't open Tab nn" errors.

And yes, they respond to emails almost instantly. I expect the problems might get fixed faster if they ignored the email - but that would not be politically expedient.

We do indeed have development environments, but you know as well as anyone (having 35 years of software experience) that no system is without bugs.

BTW, have you reported the "Can't open Tab..." error to feedback@mahalo.com? I haven't seen that one before.

Unlike Mahalo Search where we used Mediawiki (same package that Wikipedia uses) as a launching pad for our work, Answers is 100% original code and a lot of code at that! We are very proud of what we have built here, and are working hard to resolve issues as fast as possible.

Of course I do.

There is no program on earth more than ten lines in length that doesn't have bugs or can't be broken.

I was trying to say that you are doing a remarkable job under enormous pressure while facing explosive growth with inedequate resources. And please don't comback and refute that fact. The entire thread was prefaced with "It appears" and if there is one thing I do know, there is not a development team in THIS country ( USA ) that has adequate resources.

Sorry.
I give up.
You win.
I will quit trying to defend your efforts.
Let the users be the judge.

Nit picking.

Don't be so defensive, it makes you sound like you have a guilty concience.

The original intent of the answer illustrate that a lot of code had been added to a canned system without trying to bore or confuse non-technical readers.

"A little bit of inacuracy, can save a whole lot of boring explanation"

I agree that you SHOULD be very proud of Mahalo. It is very nice and unlike most modern applications and web sites, it has a very clean, intuitive, easy to use, and attractive user interface.

Keep up the good work.
