Yes, the ferry is the only way to get to Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty National Park in the New York harbor. No private vessels are allowed access to the islands. You can take the ferry from lower Manhattan. You can purchase round-trip ferry tickets at Castle Clinton National Monument in Lower Manhattan. The ferry is run by Statue Ferry. The ticket will cover both Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The tickets are $13.00 for age13 and up; $10.00 for seniors 62 and over; and $5.00 for children 4-12 years of age. All visitors and their belongings are subject to inspection. There is no eating, drinking or smoking on the Islands. Cameras are permitted, but large bags are not allowed.
