According to the game website Kotaku:
"The grossly underpowered camera is a mere 0.3 megapixels. There doesn't appear to be a zoom, either. It is possible to zoom slightly on pics you have already taken. On the DSi's screen, 0.3 megapixels does not look a grainy and horrible as the megapixel count would suggest."
0.3 Megapixels is just not enough to make good pictures.
Even really cheap cellphones usually have a better camera.

The Nintendo DSi's prominent feature is the camera.
The camera is 0.3 megapixels, however it is not the quality of the pictures which is Nintendo's main focus but the enjoyment out of the photo-taking procedure.
It offers similar tools to that of Photo Booth (Apple Mac) which is a photo editing program - small pictures like hearts, stars, game clothes like Mario hats etc - can be added to the photos as decoration.
Additionally, tools like stretching the photo, changing the colour and drawing on the photo are also included.
For the quality - definitely not. I would recommend you buy a quality camera or wait for the Sony Idou (a 12 megapixel phone to be released in the Summer of the US and at Christmas in Europe).
For the thorough amusement, then it is certainly worth it!
