Is the "Cash For Clunkers Program" really helping out the economy?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Im not really sure. In my opinnion i dont think that it is. Im 20 and have a car thats older..im looking for a new one, but cant find anything cheap enough. I was talking to one of my friends about the cash for clunkers program and they say they give you up to something like $4,500. But they do have some catches..since it could be up to $4,500..that means you can get way below that too. If i were to trade my car in id get around $2,500 for it anyways, so what would be the point to going through all of that? I find that even getting the cash, for the normal middle class person the cars are too expensive. Most people that have a "clunker" have it because they arent able to buy a new car.

Yes it has...It already put $600 million in the economy and it is less than a month old.
