Is the Apple iPad a child-friendly gadget?

Is it okay to let children play on an iPad? Are there any good educational games available for my iPad? How can I use my iPad as an interesting teaching medium for children?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Teaching children is one of the hardest thing to do. We need to be very patient and aggressive at the same time for them to learn what we teach them. But there is no better way to learn than making it fun and educational for them. In this way, kid's won't run away from learning.

In my experience, using devices and gadgets to teach our kids is very good. We used to let them interact or watch kid's apps from an iPhone, and that they like it very well. So we thought of getting an iPad for a bigger screen and more interactive than iPhone. When we got one, it indeed gave them more curiosity and more attentive to watch and listen to the ABC apps on the iPad.

Moreover, my 3 year old boy knows how to use the iPad, changing from one of his movies to another. We didn't even teach him how to do it, but he got it anyway. I would say that this device can be a good tool for learning and it's very easy to use even for children as young as toddlers. There's only one thing that I am concerned about it. I just think that a "child lock" feature should be added on this device. There are times I don't want my son to really jump from one app to another, that results to deleting some of the apps. Other than that, I am generally satisfied with iPad for a kid's use.
