is stevia natural

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Yes. I've been using it for years( my dad aged 65 and using it from his age of 40) as an alternative sweetener when you still want to save a little on calories and sugar but don't want to harm your health with artificial sweeteners.

Stevia is a natural non-caloric herb that's been used for thousands of years in some parts of the world. It is a South American herb and when dried into a powder, has a sweetness about 200-300 times stronger than sugar.

I've yet to see any negative reports or health concerns regarding stevia and only positive potential health benefits.

Yes, it is natural. Stevia is a "sweet leaf" herb that grows wild in Brazil and Paraguay. Although it is hailed as a great solution for diabetics and others who are seeking a naturally healthy sweetener, some people report side effects after eating it, including gas, bloating, nausea, dizziness/ fainting, mild muscle pain and numbness.
