Is starting the agonizing process of synopsis writing. Anyone have any tips?

This may sound silly, but actually read the book. Then, pretend that you are describing the book to your professor in a lineal fashion (from beginning to end). You may even want to practice by telling your friends about the book you are reading or have just finished reading.
