Is Sony Bravia, the best LCD TV? By looking at the price, one would think so.

Tip for best answer: M$0.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Bravia line has some very nice TV's, to be sure. However, the Bravia line also has more economical sets as well. The important thing when evaluating a TV is to make sure that it fits your needs. I am a big fan of Samsung's TV sets for the clarity and value. But again, even Samsung has fancy versions and economical versions.

Since sports are shot on Sony cameras, doesn't it make sense to watch them on a Sony TV? Not necessarily. I think it's a pretty difficult distinction to say any TV is the best LCD tv. I'm really impressed with many LGs that I think are better than Bravias. But it all depends on obviously. You can find a really nice tv that is not either. I have a 50" Samsung that I love. It's 1080p and 50,000:1 and that's plenty good for me. If you need better, be prepared to pay a pretty penny.

The Sony Bravias are a fabulous line. I own a 46'' Bravia and I love the brightness and colors. When I got it I was debating between a Sharp Aquos or the Sony Bravia.
The two are fairly matched specs wise but the Sony is a little bit more expensive. I ended up getting the Sony but I think you can't go wrong with either choice.

I wouldn't suggest going with the cheap end of the Bravia series as another responder suggests as there's a signifficant difference in specs. In my opinion there's no point in buying the cheapest TV from the most expensive brand - if your budget is that tight then I would look at another manufacturer.

The XBR, Z4100 and W4100 are really great TVs. Check out their specs here:
