Is sherbet better for you than ice cream?
What are the nutritional values of sherbet compared to ice cream? Can you get your daily serving of dairy by eating sherbet?

The main difference between sherbet and ice cream is the amount of dairy fat it contains. The kinds of dairy fat that are used to make ice cream are butterfat, milk fat, and cream. While the content of dairy fat in ice cream can range anywhere from 10% for standard ice creams and up to 15% for premium ice creams, the dairy fat content in sherbet is much less! Sherbet is primarily fruit-based and the butterfat content is usually 2% or less! This definitely makes sherbet a much healthier choice with more fruit and less calories.
Depending on gender and age group, people need between 2-3 servings of dairy per day. The kinds of dairy that count are yogurt, cheese, and milk. Since sherbet has such little dairy content, and since most of it is fat, it’s most likely not a significant source of dairy. : (The good news is, it’s still delicious, and healthier than ice cream. Cheers to that!
