Is Sex In The City a worthwhile TV series to watch? How about the movie?
Please describe what I should expect from them. Thanks!

M$The movie was less popular, and received lower ratings, than the TV show. It didn't have the same feeling or energy as the series because it only documented specific event of their lives. Also, as the main characters were all the same actresses as the series, they were older and did not give off the same youthful, free vibe. Personally, I enjoyed the series much more than the movie.

M$So will you like them? Here's how you know:
TV SERIES:
The show revolves around four middle-aged Manhattan women (who are all successful and living the high life) and their sexual/relationship escapades across New York. They worship the city they live in, and love sleeping around and around with dozens of men.
I love the series because it was frank, honest, and did hit on some women's issues. Plus once the ongoing romances start spinning out, it's easy to get hooked on who will end up together.
And BONUS: When the series first started, it really was like soft-core porn. Lots of nudity, explicit sexual scenes, and discussion about detailed sexual issues. I'm very comfortable with sexuality, so I had no problem with this part of it (plus the show got more tame as it got successful - less full nudity, more underwear and sheets during sex).
The DOWNSIDE is that the show's a little precious and obnoxious with material fixation: Clothing, fashion, jewelry, shoes, and general snobbery. The ladies look down on regular working women, and parenting, and there's lots of smoking which they glorify. If you're a down-to-earth gal, you'll roll your eyes a bit at how snobby and spoiled they are.
Now, it's QUIZ TIME!!!!
Take this quiz to determine if you'll like the show:
1. Are you comfortable seeing naked women's breasts?
2. Are you comfortable hearing the "C" word?
3. Are you pro-gay marriage?
4. Do you find New York to be a dazzling and magical city worthy of poetry and song?
5. Do you follow fashion trends or watch "Project Runway"?
6. Have you ever paid more than $200 for a pair of shoes?
7. Have you ever talked about your sex life with another woman (not your doctor)?
8. Do children annoy you?
9. Have you ever....pleasured...yourself?
10. Do you drink alcohol on occasion?
OKAY! Time's up! If you answered "YES" to at least 4 of these questions, then you should give "Sex and the City" a try! You'll probably like it!
MOVIE -
The movie's a different issue. If you watch the series, you almost have to watch the movie - it will give you closure on the whole series. BUT...it's not good. It's cheesy, and the girls squeal waaaaay too much. And some of the characters take a nasty turn I wish they hadn't. But, you'll want to see it if you've already invested all the time in the tv show!
(PS - there is ANOTHER movie scheduled for production soon, "Sex and the City II".)
