Ringworm of the scalp, scientifically known as tinea capitis, can be very uncomfortable. You definitely do not want to spread it to others if you do have it. Ringworm of the scalp is a fungus. It can be very itchy and uncomfortable. You may also get bald spots from this fungus.
Unfortunately, ringworm of the scalp is extremely contagious. It is not good to share combs or brushes with others if you do have scalp ringworm. It is spread very easily by children at schools.
If you do have scalp ringworm there are some things you can do to help treat it. You should visit the doctor to make sure what you have is actually ringworm and not something else. The doctor may supply you with oral medications to kill the infection or prescription shampoo.
