Is Pinks Hotdog in Hollywood worth waiting in that line just to eat a hot dog?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Your local reviewers only give it 1 and 1/2 dogs, so the competition is probably even better hot dogs elsewhere in Los Angeles. In fact it's the lowest rating of the 15 places Hotdogspot reviewed. Pink's main attraction seems to be its record of drawing stars as customers for the last 70 years. So it's sort of a celebrity restaurant that ordinary folks can afford, in a way.
But the answer to your question is almost certainly no. That's because they have 4 locations and are open 9:30 am to 2:00 am every day (3 on weekends). If they all had lines like that all the time they would open more outlets. Probably you just have to pick the right ones at the right times to avoid lines. Check out their web site.

M$But Pink's isn't really about the food. It's about visiting an LA landmark and participating in an archetypal LA experience. You should definitely try it at least once.
For truly excellent hot dogs I like the following places:

Fab Hot Dogs

Fab opened last summer to rave reviews. They do really excellent "rippers" -- New Jersey-style hot dogs deep-fried until they rip -- and bacon dogs. They use Vienna Beef dogs -- the gold standard for hot dogs. They also do amazing tater-tots. Unfortunately it's a bit of a drive from Hollywood.

They are closer to Hollywood (just over the bump) and do a great Chicago dog. They use Vienna Beef dogs, too.
And, finally:

Carney's is closer yet, has very good chili dogs, and is open until midnight.

M$If you want a great chili dog, go to Carney's on Sunset Bl (or their alt branch in Studio City) instead.
