Is Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers more effective as a power forward rather than a center position?
I think Pau Gasol is more effective in the power forward since he is a versatile player, a potent post up player with variety of moves towards the basket, and uses his height very well. He can compete with any power forward or center players in the league. He is a potent force in the middle as he can defend the painted area against driving opponents, since he is a decent shot blocker and knows how to play hustle too. Gasol can be easily coached and he is willing to give his all in supporting the team’s main weapon Kobe Bryant and the rest of his teammates.

I actually feel this is like a trick question. Because the true answer is both. Let me explain.
Gasol is more effective as a Center on the offensive end because he is one of the most agile and smooth big men in the game. No center can keep up with him and actually challenge him defensively. His length and speed are potent verse a slow big man. Plus Gasol can open up the lane when he draws the big man out of the paint due to his ability of hitting the 14-17 foot jump shot. This is key to the Lakers triangle offense.
Defensively Gasol is more effective as a power forward. He tends to have the height advantage in all matchups. He can stay with power forwards who can stretch the defense, can effectively counter the pick and roll and recover on defense, he tears down rebounds left and right.
So in theory gasol's ideal position would be a hybrid between the both.
