Is my orange safe to eat?
Now I know blood oranges exist. but i have never seen one/tried one. And this orange wasnt advertised as being a blood orange. It was imported from italy. Thats all i know.
The skin looks like a regular orange, no spots or discoloration, its evenly toned.
The flesh tastes less acidic than I expected it to. Has a strange flavor Ive never tasted before. I picked up two of these oranges and they are both the same.
any thoughts?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There's also a cross called Kara Kara oranges, which are sort of pink as opposed to red:

I've never, ever heard of an orange going bad and turning red inside while leaving a perfectly normal exterior, so my guess is you somehow got a blood orange. They're a traditional Italian orange.
