Is Michael Crabtree the next Matt Harrington?

So word on the street is that Michael Crabtree out of the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team is holding out for some ginormous contract from the San Francisco 49ers and is willing to sit out the entire 2009 National Football League season to enter the 2010 NFL draft.

Sounds oddly familiar, like say Matt Harrington, who was selected five times in the MLB draft, but never signed and now works on tires at Cosco.

Thoughts?

Eli Manning refused to play for the Chargers the year he was drafted, and it forced them to select him, then immediately trade him to the New York Giants, though some would argue the Chargers got the better QB in Philip Rivers.

Even John Elway did the same thing. He was drafted by the Colts, and they ended up having to trade him as he threatened to play professional baseball instead if they didn't.

So, as you can see, this type of behavior is not uncommon, but it rarely goes all the way to a player holding out into the regular season.

He could be because there are small similarities between the two and the story.
I think that he'll be fine.

I really don't think Crabtree will hold out the entire season for the 49ers like he is threatening to do. He is a diva just like most receivers in the NFL, and if they feel "disrespected" by the contract they are offered they overreact and say things they really don't mean. Matt Harrington's story is extremely sad, he had all the talent you could ask for in a major league pitcher but he trusted that his agent would get him the best deal possible and that never came to fruition.
Apparently Michael Crabtree's cousin is his "agent" right now despite the fact he actually has an agent that deny's that his client has threated to hold out for the season. Michael needs to listen to his real agent rather than his cousin because business and family never mix. I don't think he will end up like Matt Harrington but if he keeps listening to his cousin we might see the same type of scenario.
