Is Marketplace like craigslist?

Is Facebook trying to compete with craigslist? How do I use Marketplace? Where can I get the app for Marketplace?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Marketplace does have similarities with Craigslist. Marketplace was developed by Facebook and it is easy to see why. Facebook already has the traffic, why not utilize it? They have some advantages over Craigslist:
1. Your posting is seen by your current Facebook friends->this brings your product or service is warmly presented to your personal group.
2. You are allowed to promote your results to the top once every 24 hours
3. You can also simultaneously republish on your wall in front of your friends.

Craigslist does have its advantages too:
1. Craigslist has been around longer.
2. They have established their uniqueness and branded themselves in local area marketing.
3. They are simplified in their usage.

Overall, Marketplace is still fairly new, but as in any Facebook launch, it will be a force to be reckon with.

Yes, Facebook’s Marketplace is supposed to basically be that site’s Craigslist though it isn’t nearly as popular. You basically use it exactly the same way you would the Craigslist site though it is actually automatically set to be looking for items in your area. You need to actually change the search parameters if you want to do a search outside of the area that you told Facebook you are located in.

The Marketplace also does not seem to be nearly as well stocked as Craigslist because apparently people just don’t use it as much as they do the other site. I don’t believe there is a specific app for Facebook Marketplace, you just need to go there through your browser. It does not yet have the popularity to warrant its own app.
