Is Mahalo going to get a URL shortener ?
As I'm sure the Mahalo staff knows (and has seen), the URLs are running off the page/column. I've just been using is.gd because I can't stand seeing the URL run off the page..obscuring other text.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My Thoughts and Research!
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That way they can maintain the url of the link while modifying the text. I've heard that helps with indexing, but I never need to bother with that on my sites.

M$So is this something that Mahalo has to build in (like your URL example above)? or is it something the user initiates? (might be complicated for non geeks.. )
Just think about it this way, if they really cared to shorten all the URLs, then there would be no need for all of these URL shortening sites.
Shortening the urls is only for looks. The problem with things like tinyurl.com is that they go to the original site, but the url is actually not the original url. So the benefit in shortening the displayed url is that you maintain the link in its original form.
Yes, that is what we are planning on doing: truncating the urls so you can see the URL you're going to.
