Is Mahalo focusing exclusively on the Pages and leaving Mahalo Answers in the background?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I too dislike the "what's your favorite" type of question- a few , if well answered are a great way to get to know each other, but I tend to skip over most of them. If we want deeper questions, though, I guess it's incumbent upon us to ask them.
Now I need to think of a few.

M$As far as the "What's your favorite" vs. research questions, in my case if I have a question that requires internet research, I will most likely find the answer myself. If I still can't find it, then I might ask it here. But for favorite questions, they are like surveys that can only be answered by other people like the folks here at Mahalo.
I think there are still a fair amount of Mahalo users asking questions, but they do tend to get drowned out by the masses of questions imported from twitter.
