Is Mahalo buggy or is it my browswer?

When I go to the Mahalo Answers home page, the questions are in a strange (seemingly random) order. I sort it by newest, oldest, highest tip, and anything else, and it still seems pretty random.

1. Is this a problem with my browser (Firefox on Windows and OS X)? Can I erase the cookies (which has fixed a number of Mahalo bugs in the past) or something else to remedy this?
2. If it's a Mahalo thing, is it something people are working on? Kind of makes it hard to look at the latest questions if I can't find the latest questions.

Thanks!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I noticed that too, so it not the problem with your browser (I'm using IE8). I found out that the first section on Mahalo Answers home page, made of questions and tasks offering tips, is seemingly unaffected by the "sort by" function.

To see the effect of the "sort by" function, scroll down until you see "See all questions offering tips". After this are questions not offering tips, but are sorted according the way you want it.

To sort questions offering tips, click the "Offering Tip" tab above before using "sort by".

P.S.: Firefox is still the best browser for Mahalo. On IE8, I can't get WYSIWYG enabled when answering questions.

I didn't say it's a bug, but your link certainly gave us some insight on the sorting criteria.

The front page sort order is a feature not a bug.

Mahalo has deemed that it will be sorted on complex criteria involving interestingess and other such.

Okay, if it's a feature, I'll weigh in as saying this is a change I dislike. The random order is aesthetically jarring and "interesting" is only good for 2 or 3 days. The same dang order loses interest after that.
As the answers below show, it's a feature that looks and acts like a bug. Ick.

@payrus... I never said that you did.

It's what the question was asking about, and my comment was supposed to help the asker.

The question below summarizes almost all the issues and feature request for Mahalo.

http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-suggestions/list-2-future-improvements-youd-like-to-see-added-to-mahalo-that-will-heighten-your-experience-and-that-of-others-when-using-the-site

I use both IE 6 and 8 and also Chrome based on the features I need to access.

For example, "pages managed" works on Chrome, but not on IE
To scroll through Answers under profile, I use IE6, since it does not work on Chrome.

In your case, yes, based on my experience there are some browser compatibility issues.

1. I would also clear the cache and try if it works for you, not just the cookies.

2. I believe the mahalo team is working on these issues and of course the site is work in progress.

Mahalo definitely seems to be buggy...

I'm a new user. I've now tried using several computers other than my laptop to see if the Mahalo interface works better on other browsers. No go.

Every browser I've tried has exactly the same problems on the Mahalo site such as: all of the pages repeatedly back tracking (i.e., going upward) while you're trying to page forward (i.e., while I'm trying to go forward); many Mahalo answers failing to register within the Mahalo site for an hour at a time, no matter how many times I submit them; etc.

Unfortunately, I've almost completely given up on expecting Mahalo to have a usable and user-friendly interface... Sad. What if the site were easy to navigate? How much better might it be?

When I see Mahala questions like: "How do we get users to supply the best answers?", I sigh. Try de-bugging the Mahalo site so interested users can actually use it to participate in Mahalo successfully and consistently!

I usually just use Firefox and haven't had problems with anything.

I think it's a bug.

The sort option pull-down isn't working on the main page.

I'm not a fan of the new front page layout. So, I've switched to reading the RSS feed along with this URL: http://www.mahalo.com/answers?filter=tip&sortby=created

Filtering by tip and sorting by the date created is pretty well just like the old main page except it doesn't include the un-tipped / automatically tipped questions.

I think it's Mahalo, not the browser. I have also noticed that the sorting menu doesn't always sort like you would expect. Like if you choose sort by highest tip, you will see a lot of .25 questions, but if you keep going to the next pages, you find some $1 questions.
