Is Liquid Natural Gas cheaper and easier than a natural gas pipeline?
2. LNG does not require an infrastructure to be buit.
3. LNG is in demand by countries like Japan with high energy consumption rates.
4. LNG can be exported to a variety of countries.
Are there reasons to build a Natural Gas Pipeline verses LNG facility? Are there certain obstacles that a Pipeline solves that can not be solved by LNG?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Cooling natural gas to about -260°F at normal pressure results in the condensation of the gas into liquid form, known as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). LNG can be very useful, particularly for the transportation of natural gas, since LNG takes up about one six hundredth the volume of gaseous natural gas. While LNG is reasonably costly to produce, advances in technology are reducing the costs associated with the liquification and regasification of LNG. Because it is easy to transport, LNG can serve to make economical those stranded natural gas deposits for which the construction of pipelines is uneconomical.

The main reasons for building a natural gas pipeline verses LNG
1. Cost - NGP cost less than LNG
2. By building NGP it allows the gas to be transported more quickly, effectively and efficiently to the consumer.

Pipelines for major energy resources (petroleum and natural gas) are not merely an element of trade. They connect to issues of geopolitics and international security as well, and the construction, placement, and control of oil and gas pipelines often figure prominently in state interests and actions. A notable example of pipeline politics occurred at the beginning of the year 2009, wherein a dispute between Russia and Ukraine ostensibly over pricing led to a major political crisis. Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom cut off natural gas supplies to Ukraine after talks between it and the Ukrainian government fell through.
Oil and gas pipelines also figure prominently in the politics of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
