Is Latin spoken anywhere in the world nowadays?
I've never heard anybody speak Latin, but one can hear the words in church songs. Do priests or anybody else actually speak the lingua actively?

An acceptable response to this question could state that today no one speaks Latin conversationally, but Latin is the foundation of many languages such as English, French and modern Italian, all of them contain many words which originate from the old language spoken in Rome originally. As noted before words have been adapted from the old tongue and probably the most used is the term salary, which derives from the era when the Roman soldiers were paid for their military service with salt, from which the word is taken. Latin itself is now only a language that is part of and studied for scholarly purposes. Still is a good language to learn because it is the basis of many others modern tongues.
