Is it wrong to choose what gender your baby will be born?

For instance, if you're religious, does it go against your god's belief?
If you believe in souls, do you think it may cause a gender identity crisis?
Do you think more babies would be born gay? (not that it's a bad thing; see gender identity crisis)

What do you think?

Personally, I would rather leave it up to nature.
I'm not about to f around with that stuff.

Personally, I say let nature take its course, but I don't see anything wrong with choosing the gender of your baby. If you and your spouse agreed to have 3 children and the first two were male why shouldn't you be able to make sure number 3 is a girl (or whatever combination you want).

Don't you get to choose the sex of your baby if you adopt? Why should this be any different?

I don't think it is wrong to want a baby of a certain gender, and I don't think it would be wrong if you specifically designed a baby of a specific gender. I think those people would miss out on what fate might provide for them, but I don't see it as anything that is wrong. I also don't think this would result in more gay men or women. Your sexual preferences have everything to do with your genes, not your choices. And so far they can't mess with that gene yet.

Now that I have two children, one of each gender, I do not believe that having preset expectations or wishes would have done me any good. Their behaviors do not adhere to any gender bias.

Some countries this question is much more serious... Let your religion be your guide... this is more a moral question, and can have LONG term consequenses... I'm no professional, but there are times when this could be much more important.

being able to chose isn't wrong at all
terminating a pregnancy because the baby is of an unwanted gender is wrong.
a decision should be taken before conception
so if technology allow you to chose gender before conception, I don't see why it might be wrong

In my opinion, it is not against the law or religious. In fact it is so call family planning, where you can plan what gender for your future baby and how many boys and girls you want.

Not for religious reasons do I answer this.. but YES... Look at China and the one child rule. The ratio to boys to girls is overwhelming due to the preference o boys.

For religious reasons YES. I believe we should let nature take it's course.
