Is it rude to untag unattractive photos of yourself on Facebook?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I just did that for my first time a couple of days ago!! Those pictures were fugly :)

And also, it's compelely within your right to show the pictures of yourself that you want. Why would it be rude? Do you really want a picture of yourself that makes you look like this on your profile?

No. In fact I think that if someone untags themselves, you should take the photo down or crop them out of it. They obviously don't want that floating around the internet.

No. What shows up online with your name on it is a reflection of you. You should try to be really conscious of what shows up online as potential employers and potential romantic relationships could see them. :)

I'd like to think I am pretty careful when I upload pictures to only choose the best and most flattering ones so I don't think anyone has ever removed their tag from an image I have uploaded.

I wouldn't have a problem if they did though. I have removed my name from a few pictures and don't think it has offended anybody.

Soon we will all have thousands of pictures online and nobody will bother looking through the mediocre ones (note: does not apply to politicians).

Not at all. If you don't like the picture, why should anyone stop you? You get to decide which pictures show up on your profile, not anyone else. In fact, I'm never offended when people untag themselves from pictures I've posted of them. I'd rather they be comfortable with what's posted about them.

Why not? It's your face and your image, and from a high-profile case about a decade ago, you have the rights over it. Why would that be rude? I'd think that it would be rude for someone else to post an unattractive picture of you, not you for untagging it.
