Is it reasonable to request all page managers to make at least one significant contribution every 10 days?
I'm not questioning Mahalo's decision for this rule, but I'm just curious how page managers manage to compile to it, especially on pages that, well, nothing much to update.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$Buzz stories and people in the news will need timely updates. We are looking for significant updates for pages when they need them. For example Michael Jackson should give the details of his death and funeral. The trade of is, our buzz pages usually get a ton of traffic, and hence, make a lot of money.
While our more static pages, have the potential to make more money, they will need marketing (ie social bookmarking, blogs linking to them, widgets views). Marketing your page also counts as an update. This may be an excellent route for your phone page.
Other ways to update a page include adding a new section in the Guide Note, making a Top 7 or adding a Featured Object.

In response to Vincent's quote, we will always give a person a heads up before taking a page away. The spirit of the rule is to have people take pages they are passionate about. If they're passionate, they will be sure to keep them up-to-date and excited to market their excellent work.
I would always recommend managing pages on topics you like. Personally, I love television shows, so I'm always happy to update them and have a good sense of when news breaks about my favorites.
That was a guideline they came up with when they 1st started the page managing feature. It is not heavily enforced. The staff will not take a page from you without 1st sending you a message about a page that should be updated.
What about this?
"If you do not make any significant edits to your page in 10 days, you will receive a warning by e-mail. After 15 days, the page may be taken away from you and recirculated into our system."—http://www.mahalo.com/how-mahalo-works
