Is it possible to wallpaper a textured wall?

However, I've found the fastest way it to either sand it or scrape it. This depends on the thickness (how much texture and actuay thickness) of the texture.
A lite texture (usually sand mixed with paint) can be scraped off fairly easily. (hey, it's construction and nothing is really easy in construction except the coffee breaks) but if it is a heavy texture, like someone packed on mud, then you should consider smoothing it with more "mud" (joint compound)
The best thing is to experiment and see what works best for the situation. The trick to any construction project is try a few different techniques and think things through. Work smart, not hard.... 'cause it's hard enough already. :)

M$1. Sanding.
2. Coating the wall with joint compound to even out the roughness.
3. Covering the wall with a lining paper.
Which one you do depends on how textured the wall is.
