Is it possible to take over page management of a Mahalo page that already has a page manager?

I was doing some searches the other day for some topics I'm interested in, and I came across some pages that are woefully inadequate/out of date/bad, but they all had current page managers, so I couldn't just request them. Is it possible to make a case with the Vertical Manager that I'd do a better job managing that page? I kind of feel bad stepping on the toes of some PMs, but some of these pages could be huge money makers if they were maintained. Anyone have any experience with this?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If the page is in bad shape and not updated long time ago, you can either contact the PM to update it or the VM
The VM would also message PM to make the page better. If he/she doesn't do that in few days(at least 48 hours), the page may be given to you.

This is (basically) correct - ask the PM for it, if you don't get a response, they say no, or they still don't update it, ask the VM for the. If a PM is ignoring requests to update their page, it'll be taken from them.

The clarification I wanted to make is that we give 7 full days warning before we are allowed to take a page away from a PM. If there is no reply or no updates in 7 days, they can then be reassigned.

Thanks for the reply (and the comment from @girlieq3000). I think I will contact the VM ask them to follow up with the PM, and state that I'd be willing to take over the page if the PM doesn't respond.

Depending on what page it is, you can offer them Mahalo Dollars, and I'm sure they might give it up if they feel you're offering them a good deal. What's the page? I had a few pages taken away from me, and I did not want them taken away, yet the people at Mahalo just take away pages. I would just recommend working on the page without managing it. That's the best way to be part of a community. I sometimes work on pages when I feel like it, even if I don't manage them. If you think the page can be better, just make it better, then message the manager and tell them you're improving the page. You might even ask them if they mind if you improve the page, and it might be that they wouldn't mind.

Thanks for the response. I'd rather not call out the specific page/PM here, but it appears the page has not been updated since 2008, and there have been several major and constant minor items that could have been added to the page.

I hadn't thought of asking the owner straight out if I could take over the page. I may try that. It's possible it was assigned to him at one time, or his priorities have changed.

You are not suppose to make changes to anyone's page without their permission. The only exception would be if there is an obvious error that needs to be fixed. But as far as the content goes, if it needs to be updated, you should contact the page manager or vertical manager.

Possibly, it's best to check with them. Good luck!

If the page needs to be updated, contact the VM of the page, or if it doesn't have a VM, contact a staff member about it. They will then contact the page manager and let them know they need to update the page. If the page manager does not fix their page within a reasonable amount of time, the page will likely be revoked and given to you if you request it.
