Is it possible to "rent-to-own" a saxophone?

I don't have enough money to buy a saxophone but I don't want to throw money away renting a student sax. Can I rent a sax and use the money i spend renting toward buying it at the end, do places offer that?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Many of the music stores will allow you to transfer at least a portion of your rent money to the purchase of the instrument. They will also allow you to upgrade to a better instrument and transfer part of what you have paid in or even completely change instruments and still apply some of it. For instance, my son started on the cello and then moved to the double bass. We rented for the beginning because we were not sure he would stick with it. When we changed instruments we kept the portion of the pay in we had made, and then when we decided to buy our rental payments counted to that buy.

I would suggest checking with a couple of local music stores and see what their rental programs offer and maybe even check one in the next town over just for comparison. The rental aspect is a good was of trying new instruments in my opinion

Hi, @chaddog!
I did a little research on that and I have found that there are stores that can help you with your need. You don’t need to have the full cash in order to buy that saxophone. One of those sites I have found is the http://www.childrensmusicworkshop.com/instruments/index.html. I’ve seen that this site offers great 12 month plans. Please check their site. http://www.cewinds.com/payment_plan also offers rent-to-own payment plan for as low as $9.95 per month. At CE Winds, you are not only getting the saxophone at a very cheap cost but you are also getting the brand new one and they don’t let you pay extra fees for Certificate of Warranty. Please check these urls too for more choices:
Bill’s Music.com offers back to school rent-to-own program, check here: http://www.billsmusiconline.com/rent-to-own-rent-to-own-alto-saxophones.html

There are music shops that have rent to own programs. Look in the Yellow Pages and find the 5 closest music shops and call to see if they offer this option. With the economy the way it is, businesses are going out of their way to make sales so even if they do not have a rent to won program, they may indeed work something out for you.

Another option is buying a used saxophone. You can find some great deals on Ebay right now with new and used saxophones. I am a Proseller on Ebay and noticed the past year, us sellers are competing just to make a sale and in turn we keep lowering our prices. Our item ends and did not sell, so we relist it even cheaper. I can not believe how cheap buyers are getting things for. It is an absolute buyers market.
