Is it possible to play FarmVille on a dial up connection?

I have to admit to not particularly liking social networking sites like Facebook, so I have never even looked at FarmVille, the thing is, I keep hearing and reading so much about FarmVille and what a great game it is, that I may have to have a rethink and join Facebook.

For various reasons, I'm on a dial up connection, would this make it impractical to try and play FarmVille?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I play some of the games on Facebook, including FarmVille. I do not have dial up, but I do not have board band either. I have satellite internet, which is in the middle speed wise. I can say based on my experiences with my internet, there is no way possible to play the FarmVille game on Facebook with dial up, let alone any of the other ones. I have a hard time with adobe flash crashing on me constantly. Treasure Isle and FrontierVille gives me the most problems. This is probably due to them being newer and still in beta versions.

It's so annoying and I get upset. It seems that I have better luck at night, because my signal is stronger. Maybe in the future there will be some disc or download. It would limit the ways of interacting with your neighbors, which I think is the best part of playing the games. It's like spending some time with your friends, but not really.

I don’t play Farmville, I just never caught the Farmville addiction that has captured everyone else, and it’s been years since I had a dial up connection but from what I hear playing games such as Farmville on a dial up connection might be quite frustrating. Because the connection used for dial-up runs too slowly for the connection needed to run various internet games and applications such as Farmville. You will encounter problems such as the game loading very slow, not loading all the way or never loading at all. So, I think not only will it be impractical to play Farmville with a dial up connection my guess would be that it is pretty close to impossible to play with a dial up connection.

Thanks for the answer, I had a feeling it might be a problem. I guess I'll have to stick to downloading free hidden object games, even if it does take quite a while to do it.

Possible? Yes
Advisable? No.

The thing is that you can access Farmville using any type of Internet connection. I did it using the wireless connection from my laptop in the middle of nowhere. It took me 5 minutes to connect to Facebook and another 10 to load the application. But it can be done.

While my daily Internet connection is broadband, I don’t have any problems with Farmville, however if you use the dial up connection your application will crash often. This decreases the gameplay and can be frustrating after a while.

There are many other Facebook games that can be played using a dial up Internet connection, however you must expect wait some time before the game loads.

Besides Farmville, Frontierville is another game that requires a decent connection.
