Is it possible to extract data from a broken 8GB Zen Micro Photo? Maybe by pulling the flash memory out?

A colleague has a broken unit that won't power on, even when running on USB power, and she's got a ton of irreplaceable Russian music on it. Anyone have any idea what kind of flash RAM is in there and if there's a way to access it and extract data from it?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Will it not mount as a drive when inserted into a computer's USB slot?
