is it possible to change the plug on a usb wifi adapter to plug into an ethernet port and still work?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If cost is a concern, a local PC component recycler or Craigslist can be a good resource for an inexpensive solution. Last time I needed a wireless bridge, I used an inexpensive router purchased from a local recycler with dd-wrt installed.

the router idea could potentially work, though I am wondering if i would need to modify it to receive signals rather than transmit them.
this isn't really possible for the device since there is no space for expansion cards, usb connectors do exist on the motherboard, but they use proprietary connectors and I only have one adapter which is in use, a hub might not be possible because of compatibility with the OS.
