Is it possible to be gay and homophobic?

Cause that's me. I can't fix the gay, I get that, don't want to either. I just don't want to be repulsed when a date touches me..., or I see two dudes kissing. I don't get it.
Yeah, I'm totally gay, not questioning myself.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Being repulsed by watching others make out doesn't make you fearful of it (phobic implies fear). Not wanting to be touched by someone doesn't necessarily mean you don't want it on some level either.

It would be wise to discover through counseling why being touched repulses you. In spite of your decision to identify yourself as gay, your body may not agree. When straight men are repulsed by women it is a common consideration that that must mean they are gay. But I don't believe that is the only answer.

What defines "being gay" for you? More gay people I know are discovering that their definition of "being" or "not being" any particular sexual orientation is very limiting. Now they just identify themselves as "sexual" and find even more freedom than before.

How we define ourselves in private is personal. How society defines us is impossible to control.Your issues appear to focus on sexual interpretation and expressions. CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is a valuable technique. It's worth pursuing and shouldn't be prejudiced by sexual labeling.

Yup. Ever seen American Beauty? :)

According to what I've read, cognitive therapy can be something that changes the way people in this situation think and feel about it.... check out the work of Albert Ellis, he seemed to do a lot of work with people in this situation.

Hmm, sorry I'm not sure if I'm mixing up my Legends of Cognitive Therapy....I'm not sure if I'm thinking of Albert Ellis or Aaron Beck. Check out the works of both (listed at the end of their respective Wiki pages). One of them definitely used their techniques to help people with this kind of thing.

Absolutely. It's a manefestation of self-hatred which you transpose to others. Learn to love yourself and not feel guilty about being gay.
