Is it possible that the Milky swirls could overlap?
Why do the swirls within the Milk Way not intersect?

The "arms" of the Milky Way galaxy basically do not overlap, but that does not mean the arms in other galaxies do not overlap.
(1) There are lots of different kinds of galaxies, from ones that don't contain arms at all to ones with "bars" across the spiral arms to ones that are just plainly chaotic.
(2) Galaxies do, on occasion, interact (i.e., collide, although no physical objects really run into each other), which certainly causes star forming regions to overlap here, there and everywhere.
