Genes for brown eyes are dominant over blue. If each brown-eyed parent has one blue-eyed parent then they carry one gene for brown eyes and one for blue. The child will get either a brown or blue from each parent, in four possible combinations:
Mom-blue, dad-blue = blue-eyed child
mom-brown, dad-blue = brown eyed child
mom-blue, dad-brown = brown eyed child
mom-brown, dad, brown = brown-eyed child
So you can see the odds of brown-eyed parents who each carry a recessive blue-eyed gene having a blue-eyed child is 25%, and the chances of having a brown-eyed child are 75%.
