Is it possible for me to still win this game of chess? I'm the white pieces.

I'm kind of painted into a corner here. Any advice?
Note: Both of those tall pieces are Kings; the Queens are both off the board.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If I am making out the shapes of the pieces correctly in the picture...

You can still win. In fact White is probably better in this position.

Looks like you are piece for pawn up. However as he's forked your rooks you're going to lose a rook for knight. That still leaves you with two pieces for a rook and pawn which is generally about level.

In fact I'd prefer to be white here. Black's pieces aren't doing much, and he's going to have a hard time getting them in the game.

You can probably persuade him later on to push his f7 pawn to f6 by threatening it. e.g. Bc4. Then you can get your own pawn to e6, protected by your bishop, and the only thing he could ever capture it with would be a rook, when you would be ahead in material. (After swapping rook for piece and pawn).

If I was white here, I would think I have good winning chances.

If I was black, I would think I'm going to be able to draw, unless my opponent makes mistakes when I might get a chance to win.

My next move (assumign white to move) would probably be Bf4. Gets another piece out, protects the e-pawn, and allows you to recapture his knight with a rook, whichever rook he decides to take.

Best to recapture with a rook as the knight is doing some important jobs on b3, including preventing him from playing Rd2.

1. bishop b5 to a4

sacrifice rook on a1

2. knight b3 to d4

trade knights

3. rook e1 to d1

trade rooks

doesn't look too good ... cant really play out all the options past

I'm not going to mark this unhelpful, as you might be doing your best, but I guess you haven't played a lot of chess. There's not a one of those moves that is good I'm afraid. :)

Normally you should not directly influence who is winning or losing in another persons chess-game. However it is mahalo, you have a one piece advantage. I would first save the rook move it to b1 then the king to g1. Then maybe attack with the black bishop and start trading piece for piece. 2-3 defensive moves may be necessary even essential here for game turnaround..
