3 years, 3 months ago about How to Write a Thank You Letter

Is it okay to send a thank you letter through an intermediary (secretary, HR rep, etc.), and not directly?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

As a rule, no. Even a one or two line thank you note has more of an effect than a full page form letter. It will tell the person you were willing to take the time and effort to personally say thanks. Your "Thank You" will mean more.

I honestly can't tell if you mean that you want to send a thank you note to the secretary of the person it's intended for, or if you want your own secretary to send your thank you notes for you.

In the case of the former, no, you send it to the person it's directed at and assume that if he's that busy he's going to have people opening his mail for him anyway.

In the case of the latter, you can dictate a quick letter to your secretary and have her type it up and send it on your behalf, but it should certainly appear that it came directly from you. Make sure she gets it back in front of you to sign before it goes out.

I meant the former case. The character limit made it hard for me to run my mouth (fingers?) like I normally do while still asking my question as clearly as possible :]

Thank you for the reply as well!

The question area is small, but you can add details after the fact as long as you want.
