Is it ok to feed the birds outside my house?
What is the best kind of bird food for wild birds? Are there any precautions I should take when feeding wild birds?

Feeding birds is first of all an act of kindness to animals. This is not such a bad idea as it teaches young people not to shoot and hunt on birds. Also, you are helping the birds to live, breed and survive especially during seasonal winter and fall. The presence of birds outside your house can even reduce pests and insects in your garden. You can feed wild birds with seed mixes, mealworms and fruit mix, high energy food (mixed of sunflowers, oatmeal and peanuts) and other nutritious foods. Unless you are a bird watcher, you can keep this habit all throughout the year. If you stop their food supply, these can cause a waste of energy on the part of the birds as they have to look for other food sources thus disrupting a lot of patterns in their journey.
However, if this act can create a lot of bird poops in your lawn or beak marks on your window, you might want to reconsider it if you do not want others to be upset. To avoid this from happening, make sure that your winged friends have some nice place in your garden as their haven.
Precaution is always necessary when feeding wild birds. Before doing this, know their bird types, weigh the pros and cons of wild bird feeding, gear yourself with knowledge on wild bird diseases, and so on.
