Since newspapers are daily, is it more expensive to run ads in them? Will people overlook magazine ads since they only read them once every couple of weeks?

As far as whether it is more expensive to rent advertising space in magazines or newspapers, it is generally more expensive to do the magazine. First of all, a popular magazine ad will run into the thousands of dollars while a local newspaper ad, depending upon the size, will usually cost a few hundred. Radio campaigns on a local station usually run in the hundreds of dollars as well, depending on the length of the campaign and length of the ad.
Another reason that magazine ads are believed to be more effective despite the fact that they are not read daily, is that magazines are more specific in terms of topic. So, if you have a baby product to sell and advertise it in a baby or parenting magazine, you are getting a targeted market in terms of the consumer. Parents read the magazine, and that's the customers you are looking for. A newspaper is not a targeted marketing campaign because it is read by the general public.
