Is it legal to tweet at red lights if ur driving ?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I personally know of one person who got out of a cell phone ticket because they were only talking on the phone while the car was stopped at a light. At least in my county the law with respect to text messages is that they can't be used at any time while driving.

It really doesn't matter if there is a specific law prohibiting tweeting because there is always a catchall like reckless driving that would cover your dangerous behavior. This is one of the reasons that I am opposed to anti-cellphone and anti-text messaging laws. We already have statutes in place to ticket dangerous drivers without these extra complicated rules.

It does vary by location.

However, you can use Dial2Do to tweet using your voice. Make it a bit quicker so you can actually finish your message and not risk being rear-ended when the traffic ahead of you takes off.

I'm no lawyer, but the short answer is no. It varies by location.

Where you are (Sydney, Austrailia) It is illegal to use any handheld phone while driving.
