Tip for best answer: M$0.25

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA has a legislative mandate under Title 49 of the United States Code, Chapter 301, Motor Vehicle Safety, to issue Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Regulations to which manufacturers of motor vehicle and equipment items must conform and certify compliance."

Standard No. 111 governs the requirements for rearview mirrors. Please note that the standard became effective for vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1968.

This may not be a satisfactory answer to your question. It appears that a fair amount of research is necessary to clarify state laws governing mirrors beyond the above standard.

If you'll give me the name of your state, I'll be happy to assist you further.

Respectfully,
Shin
