Is it good, or moral, to make sacrifices, and what constitutes a sacrifice?

Yes, it teaches you that life is not all about you. Giving up something for the benefit of another helps you grow in empathy, humility and character. By having less of whatever it is you sacrifice, you will eventually have more in the end.
