Is it going to be possible to run Windows 7 using Boot Camp on a Mac?

I'm thinking of buying my first Mac, but I still have a lot of software I'd like to run on Windows. If I buy a new Mac I'd like to install Windows 7 on there as well. Is this going to be possible? Apple's website only mentions Windows XP SP2 and Vista as working. Not sure if this is just old information or if Windows 7 just won't work.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Apple does not yet support the newly released Windows 7, but will do so before the end of the year with Boot Camp, according to their Website. You will need to update Boot Camp to do this. You can currently run the beta version of Windows 7 with Boot Camp.

Got a friend running it in beta already. On a Mac Mini.

It is already very possible to install Windows 7 on a Mac using boot camp. I have included a link to how to guide below.

It looks like it is definitely possible, but it also doesn't look easy. The tricky thing is that Windows 7 was just released, and if we've learned anything in the past, it probably means that there will be an endless stream of bug fixes, patches, updates and new versions over the next few days/weeks/months. So if you do it now, you're probably getting in there a little early for the best Windows 7 you can get.

However, the answer to your question appears to be Yes, you can run Windows 7 on Boot Camp.

I found a very detailed step-by-step guide for how to do it located here: http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/15/using-boot-camp-to-install-windows-7-on-your-mac-the-complete-walkthrough/

The comments are split, with a few people still having problems, but some of the comments were definitive, "Yep, worked for me!"

If this walkthrough isn't enough, gentle reader, here's a video which will give you a visual guide to Boot Camp and using it to install Windows on your partitioned Mac. (Note: the video is almost a year old and applies to Vista, however not that much has changed... at least, at my first glance.)
