"Doctor" is not a German word, Arzt is this German word for doctor in general. Avoid mixing languages when speaking to someone who doesn't speak your language.
To say "My father is a doctor".. you would say, "Mein (drop the e from your version) vater ist ein Arzt"
To say "My father is a doctor".. you would say, "Mein (drop the e from your version) vater ist ein Arzt"
